The ask
Enjoy Life makes snacks that are free from gluten and the most common food allergens. The company started in 2001, after its founder saw how few safe options there were for a family member on a restricted diet. Today it sells more than 85 products, from soft baked cookies to breakfast bars and lentil chips.
Enjoy Life had a new brand identity and wanted it carried through its online store and its email. We took on both, and we took over the email program at the same time.

The solution
We started with speed. A faster store sells more, so our developers cleaned up the theme and cut load times before any visual work began.
Next our designers wrote a web style guide for the new brand, covering colour, type and photography. The developers applied it across every template, including the small components that are easy to miss. The whole rollout took less than two months.
Accessibility was part of the brief from day one. Many Enjoy Life customers are managing a health condition, so we checked every text colour against contrast guidelines. We explain why that matters in accessibility requirements to specify before you build.
A fresh look
Teal is the core colour, a nod to the Teal Pumpkin Project, the campaign that makes Halloween safer for kids with food allergies. Set against bright product photography, it keeps the site fresh and appetising.

Friendly typography
The brand uses four typefaces, chosen because they feel approachable and a little playful. We set them up so the site feels fun without looking like it was made for children.
Product photography
When you sell food online, the photos do the tasting. We used close, textured shots that show the crumb of a cookie and the crunch of a chip, so shoppers know exactly what they are getting.

Accessibility
The style guide sets text colours that meet contrast standards, so the site is easy to read for everyone, including people with low vision.
